Registered Jack (RJ) Connectors - Help Guide

Difference Between Connectors - 8P8C(RJ45), 6P6C(RJ12), 6P4C(RJ11), 4P4C(RJ9/RJ10/RJ22)

These connectors are all crimp connectors that are specifically used for telecoms and networking tasks. The difference between the connectors is in the number of positions available on the connector itself, and with the number of contacts actually present. The more positions on the connector then the larger the connector will be.

The simple guide below outlines the differences between the various connectors;

RJ9/RJ10/RJ22: 4P4C (4 Position, 4 Conductor) are typically used for Telephone Handset cables. Since telephone handsets/headsets do not connect directly to the public network, they do not have a specific registered jack code.
