IR Control

1 x 3m 3.5mm Mono Plug Emitter Cable With 2 Eyes - There are 2 sockets on the transmitter for an additional emitter, this can be purchased separately if required, for example this may be required if you are using this product with an AV selector and multiple sources.

1 x 3m 3.5mm Stereo Plug Receiver Cable - This should be connected to the receiver and the eye should be positioned in a suitable position where it can pick up signals from a remote control.

What does it do and how do I use it?

The transmitter sits next to your AV source, such as a DVD player and is connected to the source by a standard AV cable. The IR emitter cable should be plugged into the transmitter and the eyes should be facing the IR sensor on your source(s). The receiver should be plugged into an output device such as a TV, using a standard AV cable. The IR receiver cable should be plugged into the receiver and the eye should be positioned in a suitable position near to your display device so you can control your AV source via its remote control. The display device can be located up to 300 metres away. CAT5e cable is then run in between the transmitter and receiver up to 300 metres length.

Why buy?

Our AV CAT5e extender allows installers to take advantage of CAT5e (or higher) ethernet cable for connecting AV devices over long distances whilst still allowing control via IR. CAT5e cable is most commonly used for computer networking, it is readily available and is very cheap. A CAT5e extender device such as this is a much more cost effective way to connect devices over long distances without loss of signal quality, (standard AV cables can only be run up to 20 metres, would require a lot of shielding and would be very expensive). CAT5e cable is relatively thin and flexible so it is easily installed, for example through walls. It can be self terminated which allows for tailored lengths to meet the exact requirements of any home or commercial installation. Search through our shop for reels and crimp tools.

Cables – In order to produce the best quality over long distances, we would recommend use of high quality cables, running to and from the transmitter and receiver. Please view our shop to find suitable cables. If you need guidance, please email us.
