Balanced Connection - XLR PIN 2 is connected to the Tip (of the 6.35mm Plug), XLR PIN 3 is connected to the Ring, XLR PIN 1 is connected to the Sleeve.

This adapter is used to plug into a 3.5mm Jack (small headphone socket) to create a XLR male connection, it also can be used in both directions. It could be used to plug an ipod/laptop into a mixer/speaker system.
