When the male end of this adapter is plugged into a RCA female socket it creates two RCA female sockets. This is very useful if you want to double the amount of outputs or inputs on a piece of equipment. For example, this adapter can be plugged into an RCA female socket commonly found on the back of CD players and amplifiers, to create either 2 inputs or outputs, depending what piece of equipment it is being used with.
